Bridged Divide explores a ideas of ancestry, migration and interconnection. The stratum of wood gives the impression of layered sandstone canyon walls/bridges. The figures are imbedded in the wood as if a fossil from another time. A bridge from past to present. The work also references myself in two places at the same time. I migrated to Australia from the US and now divide my time in the two countries. It represents the connection and love I have to the two places. My continued exploration of the interconnection we have with the landscape and how it forms our identity is another thread running through the work.
